Ahmed Rashwan is an Egyptian Film director, screenwriter, and Film producer. Rashwan graduated from the High Institute of Cinema in 1994. In 2008, he directed his first long feature film Basra which was screened in 14 film festivals and won six awards. In 2011, Rashwan directed his documentary Born On the 25th of January, which was screened in 11 festivals and received four awards. In 2014, he directed the long feature documentary Copts Island, and his last documentary was Voices Behind Walls. In 2016 Rashwan wrote and edited four books about Arab independent cinema, and about Egyptian director Samir Ouf, late director Mohamed Ramadan, and late Egyptian director Mohamed Khan. Rashwan has participated in many international, Arab, and regional festivals as a jury member and coordinator. Rashwan is also working as a trainer in many filmmaking workshops.
